Booking a maternity session with a photographer is an important decision. These sessions capture the beauty and significance of pregnancy, creating lasting memories that expectant parents can cherish for a lifetime and for generations to come.
When I speak with my clients, I always ask if this is their first child. The excitement I can hear over the phone when they say yes, makes me smile. This is the Harter’s first baby and wanted to capture and document all the details during their maternity session.
One perk of booking a maternity session with Pic a Posie Photography is that I have connections to a wonderful hair and makeup artist. The best part is that she comes right to the studio and pampers you before your session.
Traditional Studio Images
On the maternity questionnaire, this mama wanted described her session style to be whimsical and loving. We started her session out with a long flowing dress that showed off her baby bump and draped behind her. She was such a natural posing in the dress and embracing her belly. I am pretty sure I kept saying “Oh this is my favorite shot” each time we changed the pose!
Next I asked her if she wanted to try a pose that was a little outside her dress selection. She was excited to see what I had in mind. During the pose, she wasn’t quite sure how she would look in the final image, but she absolutely nailed it and loved the results!
Finally, we moved to the natural light area of my studio and changed to a soft white gown that showed her growing belly beautifully. We captured so many images of the parents to be, it was definitely hard to narrow them down.

With their due date approaching, I cannot wait to capture their little girl and the bond they already have as a family of three.
