Congratulations! You are expecting soon or baby has arrived. Either way, you want to capture this milestone and the tiny toes, fingers, rolls and little face. So when should you book your newborn session with a photographer? Let’s chat more in detail about that and some other common questions I get asked most by my clients!

Pace, Florida Newborn Photographer | When to Book Your Newborn Session

When to Schedule Your Newborn Session

You can schedule your newborn session anytime, even after baby arrives. However, I strongly recommend booking your session with Pic a Posie Photography when you are around 20 weeks along to secure a spot on my calendar.

I limit the amount of newborn sessions I have each month to make sure I am available to each and every client. Being a Pic a Posie Photography client means you get a custom tailored, luxury experience. From the first inquiry to delivering your heirloom products, I am just a phone call, text or email way! We will plan the perfect session together and discuss all the details. I take care of the planning, ordering and inspection of each heirloom art piece so you have more time with your family.

Having a newborn in the house means sleepless nights and may be stressful at times. My goal is to provide my clients with a fun and stress free experience during their session from the beginning to end. I take care of everything and guide you through the whole process. A few days before your session, I will send you a “What to Expect” email letting know what will happen and some helpful tips and tricks I’ve learned to get those sleepy baby images. The day of your session, you arrive, I take your baby to photograph and you immediately relax on the couch to enjoy snacks and beverages or catch a quick nap.

How Do We Schedule a Session Date if We Don’t Know When Baby Will Arrive?

When you book a newborn session with Pic a Posie Photography, your due date will be your tentative session date. I will be available to do the session around that date. When your baby arrives, you will contact me and we can adjust the date for the session, if needed.

When Is a Newborn Session Held?

The best time to hold your newborn session is when your baby is 5-14 days new. However, if your baby is a bit older, we can still capture beautiful images. If you are having a baby boy and decide to have him circumcised, the session would be held before the procedure or at least 5 days post procedure. We want him to be healed, comfortable and safe during the session.

Newborn sessions are held in my studio located in Gulf Breeze, Florida in Harbourtown Village.

What Type of Newborn Sessions Do Your Offer?

At Pic a Posie Photography, you will have the choice of a traditional posed session or a lifestyle session. Parents and siblings images are included in both type of sessions, if you choose. I highly encourage you to include them during your session. They are one of the most selected images at the reveal wall/ordering appointment.

Traditional sessions are best described as having your baby posed in props or on blankets. The family images would be on a solid backdrop with baby posed in parents arms.

Lifestyle sessions are held close to a window for natural light and offer more candid images. Images will be focused on snuggling and loving on your new baby. However, we will capture a few images of you looking at the camera. Those make for a perfect canvas piece!
